Natural Help for Rosacea

Embarrassing Rosacea

Rosacea is a common and very frustrating skin condition that is estimated to affect over 16 million Americans. Some of the symptoms include redness on the cheeks, nose, chin, or forehead as well as small visible blood vessels on the face. While the cause is unknown and Rosacea can’t be cured there are things that can be done to control the symptoms and help achieve more beautiful skin.

The 1st line of defense in relieving rosacea is to avoid certain triggers. Alcohol, spicy foods, hot drinks, and cigarettes are substances that can cause flushing in the skin. Sun exposure, stress, and extreme heat or cold temperatures can also activate rosacea symptoms. Make a concerted effort to note what things prompt flare-ups so that you can avoid them in the future. Knowing what negatively affects your skin is an important step in preventing embarrassing flare-ups.

2nd make sure to use skin care products that won’t aggravate the condition. Common rosacea irritants according to the National Rosacea Society include alcohol, witch hazel, fragrance, menthol, peppermint, and eucalyptus oil. The right products for your skin should be void of all of these ingredients and ideally contain soothing and nourishing ingredients such as argan oil.

Red light therapy helps with rosacea

Many rosacea sufferers have found great relief with red light therapy. Studies show that low-level LED lights in certain ranges have immense benefits for the skin including an anti-inflammatory effect. They have also been shown to have significant reparative and healing properties that are beneficial for skin conditions such as rosacea.

Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish oil and krill oil, are also extremely helpful in reducing inflammation. What’s more, these fatty acids also help to maintain crucial nutrients within the body and skin cells. A lack of omega-3s may cause skin to become dry and irritated igniting and increasing rosacea symptoms.

Rosacea is a frustrating condition that can create low self-confidence and low self esteem while causing sufferers to avoid social situations. Although there is no cure, steps can be taken to reduce flare-ups and improve your quality of life. Arm yourself with the knowledge of your rosacea triggers and take care of your skin with products that will nourish and soothe your skin rather than spur flare-ups.
