Healthy skin foods

Plants are a miraculous gift from nature that bring beauty into our lives as well as improving the air we breathe, our health, and our skin.  There are certain plant foods that contain powerful properties that are extremely beneficial to your skin.  These amazing substances slow aging, boost your immune system, and encourage beautifully healthy skin.

Flavonoids have been shown to reduce inflammation and stop the oxidation process within your cells.  This helps to protect your skin from aging and helps to maintain healthier and stronger cells.  You can find flavonoids in apples, celery, cherries, cranberries, kale, onions, tomatoes, black and green teas, red wine, parsley, soybeans, and thyme.

Isoflavones have antioxidant properties which help ward off free radical attacks helping to keep your skin cells as strong as they can be.  You are exposed to free radicals continuously from smoke, sun exposure, toxins, pollutions, and chemicals.  Free radicals attack your cells and steal molecules causing all sorts of damage. They are a very destructive force.   Isoflavones come to the rescue and defeat these destructive elements.  You can find these superheroes in whole grains, beans, berries, fruits, vegetables, and soybeans.

Saponins have amazing reparative properties and have been shown to prompt healing within the skin and tissues.  Plants create saponins to fight infections from parasites and so when you eat these plants the saponins help to boost your immune system and protect you from viruses and bacteria.  Saponins are found in whole grains, peas, beans, lentils, peanuts, and soybeans.

Making an effort to eat plenty of these nutrient dense foods will help the health of your skin along with your overall wellness.  Remember, feed your skin with healthy choices both inside and out to ensure it looks as beautiful as possible.  These luscious plant foods are easy to come by and will make a huge difference in the appearance of your skin.
