Snail facial

So, tell me what you think about this! The newest craze in Japan right now is the snail facial. Yes, you heard me right, snail facials! For quite some time various skin care lines in Japan have been using snail slime in their beauty products. That lovely, oozy trail they leave behind is said to contain some beneficial properties for your skin such as hyaluronic acid and proteoglycans, which are used to promote tissue flexibility and skin healing.

But now some spas are taking it to a whole new level. Women are paying top dollar, or should I say yen, to go into a luxurious spa and have snails placed all over their faces. The snails then do what they do best, they slowly make their way across the skin leaving a trail of slimy gook behind. They occasionally get off course and have to be redirected, but that’s about the gist of it. Cleanse, relax, and let the snails leave gobbly gook all over your face. Sound inviting?

Snail

It’s funny because my children have a snail that we have taken care of for a few years now. We really enjoy him, have watched him grow, and even know his favorite food; carrots. I have cleaned his oozy goozy slime countless times, but not once did it occur to me to put him on my face.

Even now, after hearing that women are paying a lot of yen to experience this phenomena I still don’t think I would want him scooting all over my face.

I would love to hear what you think about this…umm…unique facial. Would you try it?
