Adding These Healthy Skin Foods To Your Diet Can Change The Appearance Of Your Skin!

You know the old saying “you are what you eat,” well there just happens to be some truth in that old adage. Everything you put in your body becomes a part of your inner self as well as your outer self. You may be curious if there are foods for healthy skin, and the answer is yes there are a number of foods that promote healthy skin.

The healthier the foods that you consume on a daily basis, the more vibrant your skin will look. Unfortunately, the reverse is true as well, when you feed your body junk on a regular basis it wreaks havoc on the appearance of your skin.

If you are looking for healthier, more vibrant and youthful skin then you need to make an effort to start eating healthy foods that can make a drastic difference in the appearance of your skin. You can actually reduce wrinkles and get a more even skin tone by changing your diet.

So, the question is which foods truly make a difference in the way your skin looks?

Feed-Your-Skin-Starve-Your-Wrinkles-9781592333424Low-fat dairy products such as cottage cheese and yogurt contain vitamin A which is crucial for healthy skin. Our skin cells depend on vitamin A Vitamin for normal cell growth and development.

Dark fruits such as blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and plums are excellent sources of antioxidants. Antioxidants are important for your skin because they protect your cells from free radical attacks. Free radicals are formed from sun exposure, pollution, and toxins and once formed they attack and damage the cell membranes. This damage then begins to show as uneven skin tone, skin roughness, wrinkles, and so forth.

But by consuming plenty of antioxidant rich foods you help make your skin cell more resilient and give them the power to fight off free radical attacks.

Oranges and acerola cherries contain high amounts of vitamin C. As you know vitamin C is crucial to keeping your body healthy and strengthening your immune system, but did you know that vitamin C is also crucial for healthy skin?

Vitamin C plays a vital role in the production of collagen, a primary building block which forms the foundation of firm, supple, and healthy skin. Not only does vitamin C contribute to the formation of collagen but it also has the ability to fight skin damage such as fine lines and wrinkles.

Fish oil and flaxseed oil deliver essential fatty acids (primarily omegas 3 & 6) to the skin cells keeping the membranes healthy.

Omega 3’s actually hydrate your skin from the inside out and have the added benefit of diluting the skin’s sebum helping to unclog pores. It is somewhat easier to get enough omega 6, but many people lack omega 3s. Fish and flaxseed oils are some of the best sources.

Water keeps the cells hydrated and also has the vital role of moving important nutrients in and keeping toxins out which automatically helps the skin look smoother and more supple.

There is one caveat, however, and that is that you need to be drinking pure, clean water and not sodas, juices, or coffee. They don’t count as feeding your skin the hydration it needs to be healthy.

So, there you have it. By simply incorporating more of these healthy foods and eliminating some of the junk that you may be consuming you will begin to see improvements in the appearance of your skin. And you may even notice the added benefit of an improvement to your overall health.
