Refined sugar damages your skin

There are two processes that negatively impact your health and skin and make you age more rapidly; inflammation and oxidation.  These two destructive processes are believed to be linked to heart disease, cancer, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, as well as unhealthy skin.

Inflammation occurs when your immune system detects a poison in your body whether through your diet, substances you put on your skin, or the air.  When it senses a threat it engages it in a battle resulting in inflammation.

Although, inflammation is important for fending off threats and keeping you alive, it also causes serious damage.  Therefore, it’s important for you to reduce the amount of poisons you take in.

Oxidation, or free radicals, occurs when you are exposed to the sun, pollution, toxins, chemicals, stress, and smoke.  They cause a chain reaction within your body destroying cells and tissue.  They also cause your collagen and elastin to become brittle resulting in the formation of wrinkles.

In order to have more healthy and beautiful skin you need to control the amount of inflammation and oxidation that occurs in your body.  One way to reduce these two harmful processes is to limit the amount of poisons and toxins you are exposed to.

Reduce:

  • Alcohol
  • Cigarette smoke
  • Processed foods, including refined sugar
  • Pollutants, including pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, and petroleum products
  • Saturated fat
  • UV sunlight

Fight inflammation and oxidation with healthy and nutrient packed antioxidant rich foods including:

  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Fish
  • Krill
  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Wild rice
  • Beans

The health and beauty of your skin relies on the food you feed it.  Feed it antioxidant rich foods and it will glow.  Feed it toxic foods and will wither and look unhealthy.  You can’t completely avoid inflammation and free radicals but you can limit their exposure and damage by making healthier choices. However, you need to do your research and make sure it doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients.
