Are Under Eye Wrinkles Getting You Down?

Treat Under Eye Wrinkles

The skin under your eyes is very different from the rest of your facial skin.  It’s often compared to tissue paper due to the fact that it is so thin and fragile.  Because it is so extremely delicate it’s the first place to show the signs of aging.  Unfortunately, wrinkles just love this delicate area and find it very easy to settle down leaving crevices that make you look older than you actually are.  As frustrating as these blasted wrinkles can be, there are some things you can do to help prevent and minimize their appearance.

1.  Be Gentle
Never ever tug at the skin around your eyes!  If you are someone who wears eye makeup, like me, make sure you remove it ever so carefully every single night (coconut oil makes a great and inexpensive makeup remover.)  After applying your makeup remover, gently wipe away the makeup without pulling at your skin.

2.  Stay hydrated
Have you ever noticed that when you deprive yourself of fluids and begin to feel parched that your under eye wrinkles look more pronounced and you look more tired and bedraggled?  Drinking plenty of water throughout the day will help keep your skin juicy and plump reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles along the way.

3.  Moisturize
Keep your eye area deeply moisturized both morning and evening.  Use a rich eye cream loaded with moisturizing ingredients such as shea butter, cocoa butter, borage oil, argan oil, avocado oil, etc.  Keep the skin under your eyes thoroughly quenched, you may need to reapply during the day if your feel that your skin is looking dry and thirsty.

4.  Antioxidants
Applying antioxidants (vitamin C, pomegranate, green tea, argan oil, vitamin E, seabuckthorn berry) to your eye area will help keep free radicals from attacking your skin from the outside.  Eating plenty of antioxidant rich foods (dark berries, veggies, nuts, seeds, and beans) will fight free radical attacks from the inside.  Keeping free radicals from attacking and damaging your cells will promote healthier skin and will help to prevent wrinkles.

5.  Stimulate collagen production
As you age your collagen production slows down and your collagen fibers become brittle resulting in lines and wrinkles.  You can prompt collagen synthesis with vitamin A (retinol, rosehip seed oil), peptides, or red LED light therapy.  Building your collagen and elastin will help plump your skin from the inside producing a smoother surface.  Red LED light therapy, such as the DPL Therapy System, also has the ability to repair past damage while reducing existing wrinkles.

6.  Sunscreen

Use a mineral sunscreen such as Suntegrity BB Cream every single day.  The sun’s harmful rays are the number one cause of premature aging so you need to be diligent about using a safe and effective sunscreen.  When you are out and about also make sure to wear sunglasses so that you are protecting your fragile eye area to the best of your ability.

Are under eye wrinkles a big frustration?  Yes, they most certainly are, but you can do things to make your eye area look more youthful, renewed, and refreshed; looking like yourself only better.   There is hope as these tips will help you gently and naturally ease the ravages of time.

The dpl Nuve Beauty System Fights Aging With Two Heads

The dpl Nüve Beauty System Fights Aging

Okay, so if you have been to before then you know how passionate I am and how strongly I believe in red light therapy, especially the DPL Therapy System.  Red light therapy, hands down, is the best anti-aging technology available if you want something that offers no down time, no side effects, no needles, no doctor, etc.  Well, I am thrilled to let you know that there is a handheld version of the DPL System that is designed specifically for wrinkles and making the skin look younger.

The dpl Nüve Beauty System is a convenient, light weight, and affordable system that makes it effortless to fight aging especially around your eyes.  It comes with two heads that work to drastically reduce wrinkles and smooth out the skin.

The red head contains 60 red LEDs (light emitting diodes) at 625 nanometers.  These lights penetrate deep into the layers of the skin stimulating your collagen and elastin production.  As these two crucial proteins increase you will see your lines and wrinkles fading and becoming much less visible.   YEA!!

The purple head contains 4 red LEDs and 54 infrared LEDs at 830 nanometers.  The powerful wavelengths from this head penetrate even deeper into your skin stirring up all sorts of positive reactions.  They promote healing, repairing, renewal, stimulation, rejuvenation, and energize your cells.

I have been using the dpl Nüve Beauty System for about a week now and absolutely LOVE it!  I love the fact that I can place the lights exactly where I need them the most; directly under my eyes, I love the warmth it emits, and I love how easy this system is to use.

The instructions recommend skipping a day in between treatments as well as wearing the goggles that are supplied when using the red head.   But, being the compulsive anti-aging woman that I am, I do the treatments every day alternating between the two heads and I don’t use the goggles.

With that being said, if you have sensitive skin or are sensitive to light then I really recommend that you follow the instructions.  The red head is very bright so the goggles will help you feel more comfortable.

I am so excited about the dpl Nüve Beauty System!  It’s simple to use and easy to remember which head I used last as I just leave it on the system and change it the next time I use the light.  No need to keep track of which head you are supposed to use on what day; easy peasy.  Then you just hold the light on the area you want to treat for 3 minutes and then move it the next area for 3 minutes, and so on.  The device automatically shuts off at 25 minutes and a fan comes on at 3 minutes.

If you have been on the fence about trying this incredible technology, I would jump at this opportunity.  What do you have to lose, except maybe a few lines and wrinkles!

For those of you who already have the larger DPL Therapy System and are as obsessed about anti-aging as I am, then here’s a little secret; the dpl Nuve Beauty System is great for those times when the DPL Light is a little too big and it makes a great travel companion 🙂

The StarLite is a handheld red and infrared LED light therapy unit that contains 633nm Red Spectrum Laser Light at 633 nanometers and Infrared Spectrum Pulsed LED 830 nanometers.  The StarLite has been featured on “The Balancing Act” as a viable anti-aging solution, it rejuvenates the skin, diminishes wrinkles, and reduces age spots.

Regularly it sells for $279 but you can get this refurbished unit for $250 plus $8.00 S&H.  I only have one so if you are interested in getting your hands on an LED light therapy unit at a big discount then email me at .  I will have to go on a first come first serve basis, so the first reader to send me an email requesting this little beauty will be the lucky winner.  I apologize in advance for those of you that don’t make it in time.

Can You Use Too Much of a Good Thing in Skin Care?

Apply the correct amount of product

There are certain skin care ingredients that can do wonders for your skin but if you use too much they can actually make your skin look worse.  So what are these mysterious ingredients?  Well, they’re really not so mysterious, in all actuality they are pretty well known and pretty common; tretinoin (retin-A), retinol, and alpha hydroxy acids.

Although these ingredients can really make positive changes within your skin, you need to be careful not to use too much.  If used correctly (a pea sized amount for the entire face) they can give you smoother and younger looking skin.  If used incorrectly they can cause redness, peeling, and/or swollen eyes.

Some products are going to be more tolerable than others, as in the case of retinol and tretinoin.  Both are forms of vitamin A, but retinol is actually more mild and better tolerated than tretinoin.  However, you still need to be diligent about using the correct amount because too much retinol can cause irritation especially at the corners of your eyes and mouth as well as the sides of your nose.

Alpha hydroxy acids are great for exfoliating your skin but too much of this good thing can also cause redness and peeling.  Exfoliation is key to obtaining healthy cellular turnover and smoother skin.  You just need to make sure to use a small amount so that your skin can reap the rewards.

Just as with your favorite dietary indulgence; too much of a good thing can cause trouble.  The same holds true with these popular and effective ingredients.  Moderation, moderation, moderation!
