Anti Aging Rules

5 Anti Aging Skin Care Tips

Your skin is the largest organ in your body and is also the first line of defense against a multitude of assaults meaning that it is the first to show visible signs of aging including wrinkles and discoloration. There are 5 simple age-resisting rules you can implement into your crazy busy life that will help ensure a more beautiful complexion.

1. Excessive Sun Exposure

While moderate sun exposure in the morning hours helps boost the production of healthy vitamin D, you don’t want to overexpose your skin or expose it to harsh midday sun which pushes your cells into protection mode and then into repair mode overtaxing your cells. Overexposure to the sun weakens and damages your cells resulting in premature aging. Just be sure to protect your skin with a natural SPF cream daily.

2. Smoking

Smoking is a major contributor in dramatically aging the skin. It creates an abundance of free radicals which love nothing better than to attack, damage, and destroy your healthy cells. It also decreases the amount of oxygen delivered to the cells preventing them from functioning at optimal levels; in essence smoking suffocates your cells. Research has also shown that secondhand smoke is just as detrimental as first hand smoke; YIKES!

3. Stress

Stress is extremely harmful to not only your health but to your skin as well and this includes lack of sleep. Less than 6 hours of continuous sleep a night has been shown to damage your immune system and can actually lead to the breakdown of collagen fibers. Look for ways to improve the quality of your sleep and reduce stress. Find times throughout the day to relax and quiet the mind allowing your stress to evaporate from your body. Avoid intense mental and/or physical activity for 3-4 hours before your head hits the pillow.

Restful Sleep

4. Water

Water plays a vital role in plumping up and hydrating skin cells as well as flushing out harmful toxins. Water is also your body’s natural way of moisturizing itself. Shoot for about 8 glasses of water a day and then adapt for your unique needs. Larger individuals and/or those who are more active will need to incorporate more water throughout the day. Soups and herbal teas add to your total water intake whereas caffeinated teas, coffee, and alcohol not only don’t count but also detract from water absorption.

Drinking Water

5. Antioxidants

Antioxidant rich foods such as dark fruits and vegetables, beans, and nuts help fight off free radicals and protect your cells from damage and destruction. Eating a plethora of these nutritious foods will not only improve your health, vitality, and energy but will also improve your complexion as well.
