Beautiful at any Age!
As I cruise through my forties, just hovering at 45 right now, I understand how important it is to look and feel amazing. There is absolutely no reason that we more mature women can’t look as young as we feel! Just because the years seem to whiz by doesn’t mean that we have to settle for looking old and tired.
You can take hold of your looks and regain a youthful complexion by implementing a few tricks and changes into your daily life.
Staying well hydrated is an important component of plump healthy skin. To show just how important this one little change is, just imagine each of your cells looking like a juicy round grape. As long as they are well hydrated their skin remains smooth, taut, and firm. But now imagine that moisture being sucked right out of them and becoming seriously dehydrated. Now that once smooth, supple, and wrinkle-free skin becomes a raisin; rough, wrinkled, and mottled. The moral to this little story? Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water throughout the day; day in and day out.
Yes, it really does matter what foods you put into your body. By simply adding a wide variety of antioxidant-rich fruits and veggies into your daily diet you will significantly impact the health of your skin? One other suggestion; reduce your sugar intake. I know, I know that’s a hard one to swallow. But sugar actually attaches to your collagen fibers and causes them to become brittle (glycation.) By reducing your sugar consumption you can help prevent lines and wrinkles from forming.
Adding a few notable supplements to your routine can have an impact on your complexion as well. Digestive enzymes, probiotics, omega 3s, and vitamin C can all help improve your cellular functions and improve your skin. Digestive enzymes and probiotics help your bodily functions run more smoothly allowing energy to be placed in other areas such as repairing skin damage. If your body is delegating all of its energy to the digestion process it can’t be as efficient in other areas. Omega 3s help reduce inflammation and aid in maintaining healthy cellular membranes. Vitamin C is important in collagen and elastin production which sadly slows down as we age.
Exercise is not only vital for your health but it also increases circulation throughout your body driving more oxygen and nutrients to the surface of your skin. Exercising on a regular basis will help your cells function optimally and will also bring a beautiful rosy glow to your cheeks.
More mature skin requires different topical products than it did when you were in our twenties or even thirties. Using more active ingredients such as peptides, vitamin A (retinol), and vitamin C help to increase collagen and elastin production whereby promoting younger looking skin. Natural lines including Heaven (a celebrity favorite), Valia, and Ogra offer powerful anti-aging ingredients that safely and effectively improve the skin. And don’t forget the all-important sunscreen!
6. Spa Treatments at Home
Last on today’s list is treating your skin with powerful skincare devices taking your skin care regimen to the next level. Tools such as LED light therapy and microcurrents are not only used by the best spas and clinics but are also designed for home use making them affordable and extremely convenient. I am a huge proponent of both of these treatments due to the fact that they really make a visible improvement to the ski without risk. I have to admit though that currently my absolute favorite is LED light therapy. It just can’t be beat in my opinion; it’s incredibly easy to use, feels great, makes a HUGE difference, and is extremely safe.
Making these few subtle changes will put you on the path to gorgeous skin so go ahead and embrace your age, embrace your uniqueness, and embrace your natural beauty! You will feel empowered and the world will notice!
