The Amazing Benefits of the Beauty Food; the Luscious Coconut!

Did you know that coconut in all of its superb forms (water, meat, and oil) is one of the best beauty foods around? It promotes a gorgeously youthful complexion completely a ‘natural.

Admittedly, opening a fresh coconut can be a bit of a challenge; okay sometimes you just want to take a bat to the stubborn tropical hairy ball. I get it….if it’s too hard to eat it just won’t happen. Convenience makes for consistency for sure and if a coconut is too difficult to open it makes it far less likely that you will even attempt to eat this amazingly beneficial drupe. Wait, what? Drupe just means fruit with a hard stony shell covering the seed Smile

Thankfully, you can now find boxed coconut water and coconut oil at your local grocery store. Coconut water is an incredible hydrator. Remember that hydrated cells equals younger looking skin while dehydrated cells equals withered, dry, and older looking skin. So load up on your coconut water!

Besides being a serious hydrator, coconut water is loaded with skin beautifying nutrients such as lauric acid, potassium, magnesium, and iron. Potassium (a very powerful electrolyte) helps with cellular cleansing and just happens to be twice as concentrated in coconut water as it is in bananas.

Coconut oil is one of the absolute best oils to cook with and even slip into other dishes, drinks, and smoothies as it seriously nourishes your cells. I put a teaspoon in every cup of tea I drink and get the added bonus of a lip moisturizer as I sip in the wondrous benefits of the tea and the coconut oil.

Cooking with polyunsaturated oils such as soybean, corn, and canola oils can accelerate your aging. These oils are unstable and oxidize very quickly creating destructive free radicals which damage your cells and make you look older.

Coconut oil, on the other hand, is a unique form of saturated fat (medium chain fatty acids) that are broken down and converted to energy rather than being stored as fat.

Coconut oil has been shown to normalize blood sugar levels, reduce adrenal work (which helps reduce under eye circles), and reduces the amount of digestive energy your body expends.

This exceptional oil is also amazing for your skin when applied topically. Many moisturizers that you see sitting on the shelf in your favorite beauty store contain ingredients that can actually harm your skin.

Many contain high amounts of water which is easily absorbed into the skin where it expands your tissues giving you the illusion of beautifully plump and moist skin. When in reality as soon as the water evaporates….poof! Your dry skin comes right back.

Using natural products such as coconut oil offers deep and real moisture that strengthens tissue, removes dead skin cells clumped together on the surface of your skin, and offers a small amount of natural SPF. I even use coconut oil to take off my makeup before bed; even stubborn water proof mascara.

Adding this gorgeous tropical fruit to your diet and skin care regimen can help your skin look healthier, juicier, and more youthful. It’s one super food with a ton of amazing benefits!
