Juices for skin health

It’s a nice and simple way to get more fruits into your diet, but with so many reports on “bad” juices with way too much sugar it can throw you into a tail spin.  Well, hold onto your hat because here is a list of the top 5 juices for skin health and overall wellness.  The University of California performed a study to discover which juices had the most rejuvenating powers and would most benefit your health.

1st Place
Pomegranate juice took the top place on this exclusive list.  This beautifully deep red juice is rich in antioxidants, magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium, and phosphorus.  This delicious juice is great for maintaining healthy skin, hair, nails, joints, and the cardiovascular system.

2nd Place
Red wine (not really a juice, but contains grapes) came in near the top at number 2 due to its ability prevent cancer and because of the high content of antioxidants that help to protect your cells from free radical damage.  This adult beverage has also been shown to protect your heart, blood vessels, and joints making it a real powerhouse.  Take it easy though, you only need 1oz. a day to benefit from its protective properties.

3rd Place
3rd place goes to good ole grape juice.  This juice is also very high in antioxidants and is great for promoting younger looking skin.  Grape juice has also been shown to help fight memory loss, diseases, infections, as well as breast cancer.

4th Place
It’s hard to believe but blueberry juice only came in at number 4 (I thought this super fruit would have been higher on the list.)  But, hey top 5 isn’t too shabby.  Blueberry juice help prevent lines and wrinkles from forming, fights diabetes, protects the microflora in your intestines, and is also great for your eyes.

5th Place
The honor of 5th place goes to “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” juice.  Yep, plain jane apple juice came in #5 with no added sugar and unclarified of course   Apple juice purges toxins and free radicals from the body as well as improves bowel movements (not a pretty topic but one that totally effects your day to day health,) and helps to prevent liver, kidney, and bladder diseases.

Knowing which juices for skin improvement and overall health made the grade will help you make better selections for you and your family.  But, as you scan the shelves for this variety of juices look for labels that say “no added sugar” and “100% juice.
