Is there a teen in your life struggling with acne? Struggling is actually too gentle of a description, because a teen suffering with acne is a teen that is deeply hurting. Acne can affect teens in a very profound way that totally crushes self-esteem and self-confidence. In fact many teen put on a façade hiding how much they are truly hurting. If you know someone who is battling acne, you can give her or him an option that may greatly impact their life.
The teenage years are a tough time in life; trying to figure out who you are, where you fit in, and dealing with other teens who are trying to figure out who they are and where they fit in. But when you top all of those strong emotions with the burden of acne it makes for a teen who is deeply suffering, and often times they suffer in silence.
You know how hard it can be to head out into the world with one single blemish. You feel as though every person you talk to is distracted by it. But try heading out into the often cruel world of teenagers with a face covered in red, inflamed, and angry looking acne. Put simply; it’s a NIGHTMARE.
Here’s the golden egg that can profoundly help your teen; the Caribbean Sun Red/Blue Professional Acne Light. It puts a soothing, healing, and reparative solution conveniently into your teen’s hands. Before turning to something more serious and potentially dangerous such as Accutane, why not give this alternative therapy a try and watch your teen blossom?
The Caribbean Sun Red/Blue Pro combines red LEDs at 660 nanometers and blue LEDs at 415 nanometers into one super easy to operate and completely hands-free system. Most acne lights available on the market only contain blue LEDs, are handheld, and cover small areas of the face. The Caribbean Sun is unique in that it contains both red and blue LEDs and treats the entire face. The wavelengths bathe the skin in powerful healing lights that dramatically improve the skin over time. The blue LEDs are like an army of wavelengths diving into the skin killing the acne causing bacteria while the red LEDs sweep in and accelerate healing and repair damage.
- Kills the acne causing bacteria, P. acnes.
- Speeds up the healing of existing acne
- Diminishes scarring
- Reduces redness
- Increases cellular energy
- Promotes a clearer complexion
There was an impressive study done on 24 subjects with mild to severe acne. The participants were treated over an 8 week period with two 20 minute treatments a week 3 days apart alternating between the blue and red LEDs.
Results: 22 of the subjects completed the study. At the 4 week follow up there was a reduction in lesions of 46%. At the 12 week follow up, the lesion reduction was at about 81%! Severe acne appeared to show an even higher response than the mild acne but both yielded remarkable results.
Their findings revealed that a combination of red and blue LED therapy is a viable option for treating mild to severe acne and one that is completely pain-free and side-effect free. However, it’s important to note that goggles need to be worn during treatments as blue LEDs have the potential to damage the eye.
The Caribbean Sun offers a combination of red and blue LEDs, is hands-free, convenient, and easy to use making it a feasible and effective alternative for any teen suffering with this self-esteem crushing condition. The impact it can have on your teen’s life is immeasurable!
Another spectacular oil to add to your skin care repertoire; Neroli oil comes from the beautiful Bitter Orange Tree (Citrus aurantium,) also known as the aromatherapy tree due to the fact that it produces 3 different oils; neroli from the exquisite blossoms; petitgrain from the leaves; and bitter orange from the peel of the fruit.
Neroli was named after the princess of Nerole, Anna Marie de La Tremoille. She introduced this luxurious oil to the people of Italy in the 1600’s. Loving the scent, she used it in her baths, on her lace shawls and gloves, and scented her stationary as well.
Today, neroli is used as an essential oil that has profound effects on mind, spirit, and skin. It’s one oil that does a great deal, along with the approval of a princess; doesn’t get much better than that!
Mind and Spirit
This luscious scent is famous for its ability to relieve depression, anxiety, and stress. It is known to instill a feeling of peace and tranquility (something we all need more of.) It is said that neroli helps to reconnect the link between mind and body while calming and stabilizing the heart and mind.
Neroli oil is extremely beneficial not only for your mind and spirit but for your ski as well. It has toning and rejuvenating properties as well as the ability to stimulate cellular growth. It’s an excellent oil for more mature skin types as it helps reduce the signs of aging such as lines and wrinkles along with scars and stretch marks.
The neroli blossoms are hand-picked in the early morning hours just as the bud is beginning to open. Due to the high production costs and the fact that it takes over 2 pounds to produce just under .04 oz., neroli can be a bit pricey; although very worth it

Avocado Benefits for Skin
I get hungry just thinking about this luscious green fruit. They are one of my top favorite foods and not just because they taste so darn yummy but also because they are so good for you. They offer remarkable benefits for your skin both when eaten and when applied topically.
Avocados are loaded with vitamins and healthy fats that feed and nourish your skin from the inside as well as from the outside. When eaten, the concentrated nutrients and oils work their way up to the surface of your skin healing, soothing, and moisturizing from the inside out.
Avocado oil, a hot skin care ingredient, has a vast number of benefits for the health of your skin. This super concentrated oil contains high amounts of vitamins A, B1, B2, D, and E, beta-carotene, along with amino acids, lecithin, and other essential fatty acids. This combination of nutrients infuses your skin with skin improving properties.
This mouthwatering fruit/oil does the following:
- Helps the skin repair itself
- Reduces age spots
- Helps to regenerate cells
There’s no disputing that the avocado is insanely healthy for you and your skin. Whether eating it raw, mashing it up and applying it to your skin, or applying the oil your skin will reap the rewards and look more beautiful. As you feed your skin nutrients and fatty acids your complexion will appear healthier and more vibrant.
You can get cold pressed avocado oil by clicking here.
Mash up the avocado and mix it with a splash of milk, a drizzle of honey, and enough oatmeal to create a thick paste. Wash and dry your face and then apply the mask. Leave it on for about 10 minutes, rinse, and voila your skin will look refreshed and rejuvenated.
We all know how risky it is to expose our skin to the sun and the damage it can cause to your complexion. If fact it is the number one cause to premature aging. So what’s a girl to do to get a beautiful golden glow without exposing it to the sun? Well, a sunless tanner sounds like a great option doesn’t it? Wrong!
The primary ingredient in most sunless tanners that creates that beautiful golden effect is called dihydroxyacetone (DHA.) Did you catch the tail end of that word; acetone? Yes you read that correctly, acetone (a toxic nail polish remover) and get this; dihydroxyacetone is actually a cousin to this toxic ingredient. Scary isn’t it?!
When you use a sunless tanner that contains DHA (it’s hard to find one that doesn’t) it oxidizes and injects the top layer of your skin with a golden brown color that sheds off in 5-6 days. Sounds pretty harmless doesn’t it?
Well, here’s the unfortunate catch. DHA actually generates free radicals when exposed to the sun. Free radicals are unstable molecules that steal from healthy ones in hopes of becoming stable but in the process create a damaging chain reaction that accelerates the aging process. One study revealed that skin treated with DHA for forty minutes had 180% additional free radicals; YIKES!
I have to say that I was more than disappointed to discover this news. I have been an avid fan and user of sunless tanning products, but knowing that DHA actually produces free radicals and accelerates aging I have decided to forego this ingredient. The thing is though; I am not willing to forego the golden glow.
After some serious research I stumbled upon a completely natural, safe, and unique way to make your own sunless tanner. It’s so easy you won’t believe it!
DIY Sunless Tanner
- Unsweetened baking cocoa
- Your favorite lotion, cream, or botanical oil
Put a small amount of your lotion, cream, or oil in a small bowl and add a little bit of cocoa. Mix it well until it’s completely free from any lumps or bumps. You will need to experiment with the amount of cocoa until you find a shade that is just right for you.
It will look much darker in the bowl so don’t let it frighten you from trying it on your skin. Once you apply it to your skin and blend it in the color greatly softens.
I have taken my favorite oils, argan oil and rosehip seed oil, and mixed them with a small amount of cocoa in the palm of my hand and then applied the mixture to my face giving it a beautiful soft brown/golden glow. Give yourself plenty of time for it to absorb and dry completely before applying makeup.
Not only is it a beautifully natural, safe, and effective way to give yourself a tan, but cocoa is actually loaded with antioxidants that fight free radicals and you will smell like a delicious brownie.
Give it a try and let me know how it goes
If you suffer with tiny bumps on your arms or legs then you have a condition called keratosis pilaris, or frequently referred to as chicken skin. It sounds a little scary and a little technical but it’s actually a hereditary skin condition that is very common.
When spring and summer roll in you may feel a sense of dread as it gets too hot to cover your bumps with long sleeves and pants. As common as it is, keratosis pilaris can make you feel alone and excluded as you desperately try to hide this condition.
So what can you do about those darn bumps?
Unfortunately, that irritating chicken skin can’t simply be scrubbed off, no matter how hard you try. But regular exfoliation will help as it aids in the absorption of your topical treatments. Salicylic acid and lactic acid have been shown to be great options for dealing with those stubborn little bumps.
After exfoliating your arms and/or legs apply a salicylic or lactic acid product to your affected areas. As with anything in life, consistency is vital for achieving success.
The bumps won’t vanish over night, but overtime you will see your skin get smoother and softer giving you the confidence to bare your arms and legs. So this summer you can wear those tank tops and shorts with pride.

Yuzu is an extraordinary fruit that has the most beautiful and uplifting aroma (similar to a combination of mandarin and grapefruit.) My favorite argan oil, Mara Kesh Select with yuzu, contains this incredible oil making it smell amazing while adding some additional skin care benefits as well.
The yuzu has a quite a history in Japan and has been used for centuries by Japanese farmers for 3 main purposes; culinary, bathing, and medicinal. Bathing with yuzu on the winter solstice (Toji) is a Japanese custom that goes back as far as the 18th century. It’s believed that bathing with this aromatic fruit wards off illness such as colds and flu, increases circulation, and promotes smoother skin.
Today yuzu oil appears as an active skin care ingredient that naturally brightens, energizes, and tones the skin. The addition of this exceptional oil to the Mara Kesh argan oil adds to its amazing anti-aging qualities. You will find that with this oil your skin looks brighter, fresher, and more alive and when applying it to your face the aroma just fills your nose with the most beautiful and uplifting scent.
You are Beautiful!!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder….right? But what happens when the beholder happens to be you? Are you feeling beautiful right now? You are so much more critical and harder on yourself than anyone else in your world would ever be. In fact I bet you scrutinize you face in the mirror noticing every miniscule flaw in your complexion; flaws no one else would ever notice (unless you were to point them out of course )
Try looking at yourself as though you were looking at your daughter, sister, best friend, mom, or even grandmother. Would you say the same things to her? NO WAY!! You wouldn’t dream of hurting them like that and you probably wouldn’t even notice the flaws on their skin. But you criticize and hurt yourself, probably every time you look in the mirror or as you catch a glimpse of your reflection in a passing window. STOP!!!
Treat yourself with the loving kindness you would offer your daughter, sister, best friend, mom, or grandmother. Stop searching for every little flaw in your beautiful face. When you go out for coffee with your best friend do you count the lines around her eyes or do you notice the sparkle they emit when she smiles at you? You look at her and see how beautiful she is just because she’s her.
There are things you can do to soften the effects of aging, things that will help you look like you only rested, refreshed, and rejuvenated. Natural skin care products including essential oils and carrier oils along with safe tools such as the DPL Therapy System and the Caribbean Sun CCOL encourage a more youthful and glowing complexion without the risk of more invasive procedures. So you can do things to feel more beautiful in your skin as you set out on a path to stop criticizing yourself.
The next time you catch yourself self-judging and throwing around harsh, critical thoughts or words stop and ask yourself if you would say or even think such mean things about your daughter, sister, best friend, etc. If you heard your best friend ripping on herself what would you say to her? Those are the things you need to be saying to yourself as well.
Yes, it’s important to take care of your skin and to do things that encourage a healthy complexion, but don’t expect perfection and by all means stop comparing yourself to the airbrushed model gracing the cover of your favorite magazine. Start this practice today: when you look in the mirror focus on the positive things about you and only the positive. Start seeing yourself in a whole new light.
