Rosacea is a common skin condition that causes redness on the cheeks, nose, chin, and/or the forehead.  Although the cause is unknown and there is no cure, there are things you can do to drastically help prevent and alleviate the symptoms.

1st and foremost be aware of what triggers your flare-ups.  Make note of things that cause or worsen your rosacea symptoms and then make an effort to avoid them.

Common Triggers:

  • Alcohol
  • Spicy foods
  • Hot drinks
  • Cigarettes
  • Sun exposure
  • Stress
  • Hot flashes
  • Extreme heat or cold

Red light therapy has been shown to significantly relieve rosacea symptoms.  LED wavelengths in certain ranges penetrate deeply into your skin where they repair, heal, renew, rejuvenate, and most importantly for rosacea sufferers they fight inflammation.  Red light therapy is an extremely gentle option for controlling rosacea.

Omega 3 essential fatty acids also help fight inflammation while infusing your cells with vital nutrients.  Fish oil and krill oil are both incredibly rich sources of omega 3s and have been shown to greatly improve the appearance of your skin.

Antioxidants help to neutralize free radicals that are associated with inflammation.  Making sure that your diet contains plenty of antioxidants will help prevent and ease your rosacea symptoms.  Adding a liquid antioxidant to your diet makes it simple to get ample antioxidants.

Appropriate skin care products will help your skin look the best it can look.  Use products that don’t contain alcohol, witch hazel, fragrance, menthol, peppermint, or eucalyptus oil.  There are some fantastic rosacea skin care products that soothe and nourish rosacea prone skin.

Facial exercises have been shown to be helpful in relieving rosacea symptoms.  Exercising the facial muscles helps lymphatic drainage which reduces redness.  Facial exercises also helps to oxygenate the skin while encouraging healthy blood flow to the surface of your skin.  Facial workout programs walk you through step by step all of the muscles in your face and guide you through a detailed workout.

Rosacea can be a frustrating condition and may even cause you to avoid social situations all together.  Help yourself by taking steps to prevent and relieve symptoms, there really is help.
